Celebrating Women in Business, featuring Katrina G.

As Blue Chip Talent’s Director of National Accounts, Katrina was raised in a small Michigan town on a 40-acre farm. The youngest of three girls in an Italian household, she grew up with hardworking parents and a family brought together by pasta and red wine. Today, Katrina lives in Macomb Township with her husband of ten years and three children who keep them more than busy.

This family plays a very large role in Katrina’s life. With a seven-year-old in gymnastics, a son in lacrosse and wrestling, and a three-year-old to care for, she says they are always running—but she absolutely loves it. In fact, Katrina’s family is what motivates her, both at home and at work. “Every night after putting my kids to bed, I’m reminded why I get up every day—for them! If I have a bad day, it’s on me and only me. There is no excuse to not give 110% effort every day. My husband and my kids deserve ONLY that from me.”

Recognizing her husband as her biggest role model, Katrina is inspired by his ambitious attitude and drive to be the best that he can be. This year, he celebrates 15 years in the U.S. Marine Corps, which has included four overseas tours. He also continuously pushes himself, leading him to return to school to complete his degree. Committed to being a supportive partner, “Every day he tells me, ‘Walk with a purpose, Trina.’ And every day, I stand a little taller and walk out the door, ready to tackle my day and any roadblocks that may come my way.”

This determination certainly shines through when Katrina is at the office. Admitting to her competitive nature, Katrina aims to give 110% of her effort to her clients, consultants, and BCT. As long as she does that, she considers her goal achieved. Based on her career experience, including her four and a half years with Blue Chip Talent, Katrina advises other women in business, “Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t do it. You are just as strong, smart, and fierce as anyone else in this business. Show them you’re here to fight!” Striving to embody this type of confidence, she is also encouraged by Proverbs 31:25, which states, “She is clothed in strength and dignity and laughs without fear of the future.”

Over the years, Katrina has learned that every failure is a lesson; hence, she would tell her younger self not to be scared of failure. According to her, if you’re not willing to fail, you’re not ready to succeed.

On a final note, here is some insight Katrina would like to share from her experiences:

“Being a businesswoman makes me feel empowered! Businesswomen today are fierce...we are strong...we don’t sit back and wait for someone else to do the job. We step up and take on whatever challenge is put in front of us. Setbacks will happen, but setbacks only occur when 110% isn’t utilized—and I’ve never been more confident in myself, the effort I put in every day, and my abilities to get my job done.”
